Yes or No button

One big button for a yes or no answer. Think of a question, press, and the button turns green for Yes or red for No, with even odds every time. Add Maybe as a third answer if you like, and see how many of each came up.

Space or Enter presses it too.

Think of a question and press the button.
Fair 50/50

One button, one honest answer

Think of a question, press the button and it turns green for Yes or red for No. That is the whole tool: no spinning, no waiting, just an answer you can act on.

Each press draws from the browser's secure random source, so both answers have exactly half the chance. Switch on Maybe for three answers, each with a third.

How to use the yes or no button

It works with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard.

  1. Think of a question, or type it above the button so it shows in the history.

  2. Press the button, or Space or Enter on the keyboard.

  3. Read the answer, and switch on Maybe if a third answer helps.

What the button does

Small on purpose: one decision at a time.

  • Yes or No with exactly even odds on every press
  • An optional Maybe for three equal answers
  • A count of how many times each answer came up
  • A history with your questions, newest first
  • Space and Enter press the button from the keyboard

When people press it

When a choice is small and thinking longer will not help.

Going out tonight or staying in.

A party game where the button answers silly questions.

A teacher's quick yes or no for a class decision.

Breaking a tie between two people who cannot agree.

How the answer is picked

The answer comes from crypto.getRandomValues in your browser, the same source used for security, not a predictable formula.

Presses are independent: Yes three times in a row is unusual but normal, exactly like a coin landing heads three times.

What it is not

It is chance, not advice. For anything about health, money or safety, ask a person who knows.

The history stays only while the page is open; nothing about your questions is sent anywhere.

Tips

  • Decide before you press whether you will follow the answer; if you feel relief or disappointment, that tells you what you wanted.
  • For a best-of-three, press three times and look at the count.

Yes or no button questions

Is the yes or no button truly random?

Yes. It uses the browser's cryptographic random source, so Yes and No each have a 50% chance on every press.

Can I add a Maybe answer?

Yes. Switch on Maybe and each of the three answers has a one-in-three chance.

Does it remember my questions?

Only on the page while it is open. Nothing is stored on a server.

What is the difference from the magic 8-ball?

The 8-ball gives twenty classic answers with a shake; the button gives a plain yes or no, instantly.
