Awards everyone votes for, revealed like a gala
Year-end awards work when the votes are secret and the reveal is a moment. Write a few categories, list the team, and the phone goes from hand to hand: each person picks a winner for every award without anyone looking.
When the vote closes, the host opens one envelope at a time. The screen names the winner, shares the award on a tie and keeps the results for the end.
How to run the awards
Ten minutes of voting, then the ceremony.
Write the award categories and the people taking part.
Pass the phone; each person casts a secret ballot.
Close the vote and open the envelopes one by one.
What is included
Everything a small awards night needs, on one screen.
- Up to 20 awards and 40 people
- Funny starter categories you can edit
- A secret ballot screen for each person in turn
- No votes for yourself unless you allow it
- Ties share the award; results kept for the end
Who holds them
Any group that spent a year together.
Teams at the Christmas or year-end party.
Classes on the last day before the holidays.
Friends on New Year's Eve.
Sports clubs and choirs at the season's end.
How votes are counted
Each person picks at most one name per award; the most votes win, and a tie names every winner. Skipped awards simply count no vote.
Ballots stay in this browser and are never sent anywhere; the screen only shows counts during the ceremony.
Good to know
Voting happens on one device passed around; there is no link for each voter.
Secrecy depends on people not looking at the screen while someone votes.
Tips
- Five to seven awards keep the ceremony under fifteen minutes.
- Keep categories kind: the best ones are about habits everyone laughs at, not flaws.
Office awards questions
What are good funny office award categories?
Start with the ready list: always late, best laugh, coffee machine hero, saved the day, best playlist. Edit them to fit your team.
Can people vote for themselves?
Only if you switch it on. By default your own name is left off your ballot.
What if two people get the same number of votes?
Everyone tied for first place shares the award.
Do voters need their own phones?
No. One phone goes round the room, and each person votes in secret.
