Everything the lesson needs on one screen

During a lesson the projector usually shows one thing at a time: the task, then a timer, then a name picker in another tab. The classroom board puts them together.

Choose the widgets you want: a clock, the task in large letters, a countdown timer, a random name picker, a traffic light and the current work mode. Go full screen and the board fills the wall.

Your class list, the task and the widgets stay in this browser, so the board looks the same next lesson.

How to set up the board

Ready before the bell rings.

  1. Turn on the widgets you need.

  2. Type the task and paste the class list, one name per line.

  3. Press Full screen on the projector.

  4. Start the timer, pick students and tap the light or the work mode when they change.

What is on the board

Six widgets, shown together.

  • A large clock with the date
  • The task in big, readable letters
  • A timer up to 180 minutes with a chime at the end
  • A name picker that gives everyone a turn before repeating
  • A traffic light you tap to change
  • Work mode symbols: silent, whisper, pairs, groups
  • Four themes, from chalkboard to night
  • Full screen and keyboard friendly

Used for

Everyday moments in a lesson.

Independent work with a visible time limit.

Calling on students fairly during a discussion.

Signalling when to start, finish up and stop.

Group work with clear rules about noise.

Exams and quizzes with a clock on the wall.

How the name picker stays fair

Each pick comes from the students not picked yet in this round, using the browser's cryptographic random source. When everyone has had a turn, a new round starts.

Changing the class list starts a fresh round. The picked names are remembered in this browser, so a page refresh does not reset the round.

Good to know

The board is saved on this computer only; another computer starts with its own board.

The chime needs sound on the projector's computer.

There is no noise meter on the board; use the separate noise meter for that.

Tips

  • Keep only the widgets you use today so each one stays large.
  • Use the night theme in a dark room and the paper theme on a bright screen.
  • Write the task as the first thing students should do.

Questions about the classroom board

Do I need an account for the board?

No. Open the page, set up the board and press Full screen.

Will my class list be saved?

Yes, in this browser on this computer. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can the same student be picked twice?

Not until everyone in the list has been picked once in the round.

How long can the timer run?

From 1 to 180 minutes; a chime plays when it reaches zero.

Does it work on an interactive whiteboard?

Yes. Every widget has large buttons you can tap.

Can I hide widgets I don't need?

Yes. Turn each one on or off; the rest grow to fill the screen.
