A question, a few answers, one link
Group chats have polls, but only inside one app, and not everyone is in the same chat. A link opens anywhere: in a message, an email or a class group.
Write the question, add the answers and decide how voting works: one choice or several, results at once or only after voting, names shown or hidden.
Voters type a name and pick. They can change their vote from the same browser, and you close the poll once the answer is clear.
How to run a poll
A minute to set up, then just share.
Type the question and two or more answers.
Choose single or multiple choice, when results appear and whether names show.
Sign in, create the link and post it in any chat, email or class group.
Watch the votes; close the poll when you have your answer.
What you can set
The settings that change what a poll means.
- Up to 20 answers
- One answer per person, or several
- Results always visible, or only after voting
- Names next to votes, or counts only
- The leading answer marked as votes arrive
- Votes changeable from the same browser
- Closing the poll once it is decided
- Your own colours or picture behind the poll
Handy for
Any quick decision with more than three people.
Choosing an activity or a venue with friends.
Parents deciding on a class trip or gift.
Teams voting on a name, a logo or a priority.
Clubs and committees taking a quick show of hands.
Flatmates agreeing on rules or chores.
How votes are counted
Each person has one ballot per poll. Voting again from the same browser replaces it, so counts never double. With several answers allowed, a ballot can include more than one, and the percentages show the share of voters who chose each.
When names are hidden, other people's ballots come without a name; each voter still sees their own. The author sees the same results as everyone else.
Good to know
A poll is for a group of people who share a link, not for official or binding votes.
Anyone with the link can vote, so share it only where it belongs.
Creating the poll takes an account; casting a vote never does.
Tips
- Keep answers short so they fit on one line on a phone.
- Show results only after voting when you want honest first answers.
- Hide names for touchy questions, like who forgot to pay.
Online poll questions
Is an account needed to cast a vote?
No. They type a name and vote; only you need an account to create the poll.
Can I make the poll anonymous?
Turn off “Show who voted for what”: everyone then sees only the counts, plus their own vote.
Can people vote for more than one answer?
Yes, when you allow several answers. Otherwise each ballot holds exactly one.
Can someone vote twice?
Not from the same browser: a second vote replaces the first.
How many answers can a poll have?
Between two and twenty.
Can I stop the voting?
Yes. Close the poll in the editor; the results stay visible.
